Inspiration to Pray Every Day

Dean Ridings, is an accomplished author and anointed minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dean tells us what inspired him to write his book, 'The Pray! Prayer Journal.“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3)
I was a growing Christian, but there was an area of my walk with God that I wasn’t quite satisfied with. Others seemed to have powerful, effective prayer lives, but that wasn’t true of me. So when the Christian radio program I was listening to ended with the invitation to send a donation and receive a prayer journal, I did it.
That was in the early 1990s, and God really used that prayer journal to fire up my prayer life, my walk with Him, and my relationships with others. God’s Word and His Spirit inspired me to pray intentionally, persistently, comprehensively—to pray in light of the apostle Paul’s urging: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Why did I compile my own prayer journal? In subsequent years, I had quite the challenge looking for a prayer journal a man could use. I would find calendars and notebooks, some with inspiring words or a verse a day, but little of substance. So along the way I jotted down notes of what I would like to see in a prayer journal, approached NavPress (the publishing arm of The Navigators) with a proposal for a prayer journal for men and women, and eventually saw my dream become reality.
The Pray! Prayer Journal (NavPress) is rooted in Scripture and comes with a daily Bible reading plan, space to record the names of people in every area of your life and world to pray for, and monthly sections to record insights. It includes 12 Scripture-based prayer guides, 48 devotional readings, 12 prayers for your spiritual growth, and more. It’s a unique way to grow your communication with God and is designed to help you better “pray God’s heart.”
In March 2011, I began Pray Every Day (www.facebook.com/prayerjournal) on Facebook as the prayer journal’s day-to-day companion. As in the journal itself, on Pray Every Day you'll find practical ways to pray, inspirational quotes, Scripture, and opportunities to LIKE, COMMENT, and SHARE posts.
